CD Labels Printing

20th century is an era of technology. We have seen movies on video disks and then compact disc was introduced in the market. We all bought compact discs because these discs contain the material we all love. Data is stored on compact discs. Almost every computer user owns a collection of compact discs. And when we all need to find a specific CD we look on CD labels. These labels are part of our life since the 90s. Today, there is still a need for compact discs and also the need for labeling them. Have you ever analyzed the label of an operating system disc? It is printed on them by a machine. Let me tell you some historical background of the compact disc.

History of Cd and Cd Labels:

The Compact disc was a joint venture of Philips Corporation and Sony Corporation. At first, the CD was intended to use for music. But later it was widely used for movies, photos, and backup any data. The use of CDs created a need for labeling. The first way to label CDs was the marker pen. But later other ways were introduced.

Ways of Labeling a CD:

Following are ways in practice for labeling a CD:

  • Labeling By A Marker Pen.

Marker pens are widely used to write hence these provided the first solution to the problem of labeling a CD. But with the passage of time writings by marker fade. But it is also the cheapest and fastest way to label a CD.

CD Labels
  • Labeling Through Adhesive Labels.

Adhesive labels are the second most common way to label a CD. All commercial CDs are labeled in this way. At first, labels are designed on custom software like MS word. Then the label is printed by an inkjet printer. Then the label is cut according to the size of the compact disc. An adhesive is applied on the label to attach it on the compact disc. Nowadays free templates are available on the internet. You can easily download it and print it and use it.

  • HP Tattoo Label.

One of the most interesting ways to label is the HP tattoo label. It is a transparent sheet. You can print your mirrored image on it by an ink jet printer. Then peel off the back layer of the sheet and attach it to CD. Tattoo applicators are also available. For more sophistication, you can use them.

  • Labels On Rolls.

The printers that are used for CD labels printing can also be used to print small labels and these labels can be used on compact discs. These rolls print out good labels. Many data companies use them on backup data discs.

All the above-mentioned ways of CD labels are in use. You can use any way that suits you. But if you need labels on a mass scale then I advise you to use a CD printing machine or label applicator. These devices are a good investment for your business.
